Winter time in New Mexico presents many photographic challenges and opportunities. This image was created as I hiked the snow covered banks of the Rio Grande in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. The winter temperatures had frozen the slow moving edges of the river as well as the water around some of the boulders and the icing on the cake was a dusting of snow. The Snow Boulder's reflection can be seen in the lower half of the image. It converted to what I feel is a superb black and white.
I am a New Mexico based Adventure Riding/Rafting/SCUBA Outdoor Digital Photographer, always on the qui vive for what Nature and humans provide. Capturing an image in my camera is but the first step in an artistic process. That initial bit of information then can pass through countless permutations before being declared complete. The journey from capture to completion is a lawless territory.
