Artist's Description

This image of the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge was taken following a heavy winter snow storm. The red cinder placed on the bridge added a strange color to the scene. At the first sight of the wintry weather the New Mexico Department of Transportation begins putting down salt on the roads to keep them from freezing. A layer of cinder follows to provide traction. They repeat this process over and over again as needed throughout the storm and as long as it’s needed afterward. The cinder is actually red pumice stone that’s mined west of Santa Fe.

About Britt Runyon

Britt Runyon

I am a New Mexico based Adventure Riding/Rafting/SCUBA Outdoor Digital Photographer, always on the qui vive for what Nature and humans provide. Capturing an image in my camera is but the first step in an artistic process. That initial bit of information then can pass through countless permutations before being declared complete. The journey from capture to completion is a lawless territory. If photography is an art, then there are no rules.
