New Mexico Bighorn Sheep can easily be found just minutes away from my front door. As often as I can, I head up into the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument in search of images. I don't really have a plan, I just go and observe. In 2007 crews with the state Department of Game and Fish, the U.S. Forest Service and Taos Pueblo used drop nets baited with salt blocks to capture 25 sheep in the Pecos Wilderness. The animals were examined, given shots, outfitted with radio collars and trucked to the release site along the Rio Grande Gorge just south of Taos.
I am a New Mexico based Adventure Riding/Rafting/SCUBA Outdoor Digital Photographer, always on the qui vive for what Nature and humans provide. Capturing an image in my camera is but the first step in an artistic process. That initial bit of information then can pass through countless permutations before being declared complete. The journey from capture to completion is a lawless territory. If photography is an art, then there are no rules.
