Artist's Description

The Rio Grande del Norte National Monument has a thriving population of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. The New Mexico Game and Fish and the Native Americans of Taos Pueblo introduced approximately 50 in 2006 and 2007 into the Rio Grande Gorge west of Taos. After 10 years their numbers quickly increased to around 300. I spotted this lone ram as I hiked along the Rio Grande north of Pilar on a beautiful Autumn day.

About Britt Runyon

Britt Runyon

I am a New Mexico based Adventure Riding/Rafting/SCUBA Outdoor Digital Photographer, always on the qui vive for what Nature and humans provide. Capturing an image in my camera is but the first step in an artistic process. That initial bit of information then can pass through countless permutations before being declared complete. The journey from capture to completion is a lawless territory. If photography is an art, then there are no rules.
