Description
Looking out a west window of my OjoHome the morning light illuminated this fine example of a New Mexico Sunflower. This New Mexico Sunflower (Helianthus maximiliani) or Maximilian's Daisy is a broad perennial 5-8 ft. tall with 3" flowers along the stalk, much like a hollyhock. These beauties bursts into bloom in late summer, and its seeds bring in goldfinches, pine siskins and the like. We simply cut them to the ground each winter and back they come the next season. Enjoy.
