Description
The Mother's Day Races were founded in the 1950s by Los Alamos paddle boater and LANL employee, Jim "Stretch" Fretwell. At 61 years in the making, the New Mexico Mother's Day Whitewater Races are both a time-honored tradition and a hidden gem, offering many challenges for serious boaters, and they give recreational paddlers a great chance to play on the river with family and friends. The 3 day event is held in Pilar, New Mexico on the Rio Grande river.
